What Is Your Role in Life?

What Is Your Role in Life?

Reading Time: 5 minutes

Each one of us is born with a specific role to fulfill in life. Our unique gifts and talents are given to help us fulfill these roles. It is your ikigai or your purpose in life. Think of yourselves as actors or actresses who are commissioned to act a specific role or character in a play or movie. Living our life based on this role will give us a sense of fulfillment and satisfaction. But the question is, what is your role in life?

As a general rule, our role is to be our authentic self. However, this is easier said than done. We have been programmed by society to act, feel and think a certain way that most people lose themselves in the process. There are some who are so scared of showing their true selves that they hide behind a persona. As a result, we become unhappy and unsatisfied. Some even get sick. Being unhappy, sick and lost are just some of the signs that we are not aligned with our purpose. To live a happy, healthy and prosperous life; we need to act out the role that we are born to play. But what if you are one of those who are really lost on what their role in life is?

Human Design System

Founded by Ra Uru Hu; the human design is a system that is based on the Chinese ancient divination text dating back 10th to 4th century BC called the I’Ching. Human Design unlocks our code of genetics calculated based on astrology. It is also linked with quantum physics, the Jewish Kaballah and the chakra system.

If you are clueless about who you really are, what your innate gifts and talents are and what you are meant to do in life; the human design system will help you with that. Your human design type and strategy will help you understand yourself better. It will also help you make major decisions in life.

Profile Type

There are 12 profile types in human design. Think of the profile types as the character in the play that you are in. These profile types are represented by the ratio of two numbers from one to six. The first number represents your conscious self while the second number represents your subconscious. Thus, you can either be any of the 12 human design profiles indicated below. Check the Jovian archive to find out what your profile number is.

Your Life’s Work

The first number indicates your conscious personality. It will also give you a clue on what your life’s work should be.

Line 1

The line one is the investigator. If you have this line, you are the type who wants to get to the bottom of things. You investigate, study and research about things that are not clear to you. Before you enter into anything, whether it be a contract, a business or a relationship; you will try to find out everything there is to know about it until you feel safe enough to enter into it.

Your life’s work is to be a creator. You are here on earth to create something new. You can try to improve an existing idea but the main thing is that the new idea or the improved idea is uniquely yours. This is how you express yourself in this world. You need to express your creative self in order to be truly happy. Introducing something new to society is always a challenge because you will be defying the status quo. Thus, you need a lot of courage to do so.

Line 2

People who belong in line 2 are hermits. These are the people that the society calls “anti-social”. This is because hermits want to be alone. They want to do their own things uninterrupted. They work best when left alone. But among the 6 lines, the hermits are the most talented and gifted. They are geniuses in what they do. Unlike the first line where they need to study something first, those in line 2 are naturally experts in their own fields without even taking formal lessons.

The challenge with line 2 people is that they need to look deep within themselves in order to figure out their inner geniuses. If you are a line 2, the technique is to do the things that you love. Follow the things that make you happy. Ditch those things which are hard to do.

Line 3

Being a parent of a line 3 child is always a challenge. This is because line 3 individuals are the explorers. To give an illustration, for example there is a candle. You tell your child not to put their fingers in the flame. The line 3 child will do exactly that as soon as you turn away. It is not because the child is naughty or hard-headed but simply because the child is an explorer.

Line 3 learns through experiencing things for themselves. They are constantly in the trial and error stage. For them there is no such thing as mistakes, just lessons. They need their own space. More importantly, they need their freedom to explore things. Only through exploring will they find their purpose in life.

The lives of line 3 are very colorful. This is because they always yearn for change. They have many interests. They are the most dynamic and adaptable among the lines.

Line 4

If line 2 are introverts, line 4 is the life of the party. They are the networkers and they don’t have problems making friends. Moreover, they have the power to influence people. For them, life is all about people, people and people.

If you are a line 4, their highest expression is about service.

Line 5

Line 5 is the most organized people in all of the lines. They are natural born leaders. People are naturally attracted to them. Other people view them as saviors. They have a knack for solving other people’s problems. If you are looking for the perfect friend, lover, employee and boss. – then line 5 individuals are good candidates. In addition, they are capable of leading large organizations. These people are meant to be seen.

The life work of line 5 is to be a fixer for they are needed by many people. They are here to help and guide others.

Line 6

Line 6 is the role model. Unlike line 5 who are naturally born leaders; line 6 individuals need to undergo three phases in their lives to become role models. In the first phase of their lives; they need to act as line 3. They need to explore life in their first 30 years. This period is characterized by trial and error. The second phase is all about self-reflection. They need to slow down during this phase and take a look at what transpired in their lives and figure out the lessons learned. Once they reach 50 years of age, it is only then when they can take on the role of a role model or a teacher.

By knowing your profile, you will have a general idea on what the storyline of your life is. You will learn to understand yourself better and others too. And from there, you will be able to successfully portray the role that is given to you.

10 Spiritual Wellness Terms That You Should Know

10 Spiritual Wellness Terms That You Should Know

Reading Time: 4 minutes

Are you spiritually well? It is difficult to achieve true happiness and fulfillment without being spiritually well. Contrary to popular belief, spirituality is different from being religious. You can be religious but not spiritual. In the same way, you can be spiritual without being religious. A spiritual life means living a purposeful life. In order to achieve spiritual wellness, you must first understand some key concepts on spirituality. For starters, here are 10 spiritual wellness terms that you should know:

1.Purpose

Your purpose is your WHY, your reason for doing something or your reason for being. It is the main motivation of your life. What is the reason why you wake up in the morning? Your purpose gives you a sense of direction in life. It helps you create goals and make decisions. It influences your behavior in life. Without a sense of purpose, you are just like a puppet like Pinocchio aimlessly going through the motions in life without a sense of direction.

2.Love

Love is a feeling of tenderness, affection and attachment towards someone. Without love. you will feel empty. No matter how wealthy or successful you will become in life; everything will be fruitless if you have no one to share it with. A study done by Harvard University on what makes a good life confirms this. That love and relationships are the most important factors in achieving true happiness.

Love here does not only pertain to love for others. It is also about loving one’s self. Self love is all about acceptance of one’s self, not just the good traits but also the negative traits. It is treating oneself with kindness and respect. It is impossible to truly love another person if you don’t love yourself first.

3. Prosperity

The common definition of prosperity is the state of being successful, especially in terms of economic well-being. But Richard Rudd, founder of the Gene Keys defines prosperity not just in economic terms but something that pertains to all aspects of life flow. It is a state where all dimensions of wellness are in harmony in one’s life including health and relationships.

4. Authenticity

Each one of us are born unique. We all have certain gifts and talents that are uniquely ours. Our role is supposed to be to share these gifts and talents in service to others. But how many of us are actually sharing our uniqueness to the world? More often than not, hide their true selves for fear of being rejected. The real self is hidden behind a social mask. As a result, we forgot who we really are.

5. Acceptance

In any situation, the only way to move forward is through acceptance. Accept what happened. Accept your role in what happened. It is about taking responsibility for the mistakes that you have committed. Get out of your victim pattern. Stop playing the blame game. It is only through acceptance will you be able to move on from your grief, pain and problems. Staying in a state of denial will hinder your growth.

The same is true with one’s self. We are all human beings. No one is perfect. As humans, we all have negative and positive traits. We need to learn to accept all our attributes including our flaws. Just remember that behind that shadow self is a gift.

6. Awareness

Sometimes, it is not that we don’t accept who we are; it is just that we are clueless on who we really are. Self-awareness is about learning to focus on oneself – your thoughts, words and actions. It also includes knowing what your feelings, values and beliefs are. If you are still not sure, ask people who are closest to you, the ones who can be really honest with you. It is only by having an accurate sense of who you are will you be able to know what areas you need to improve on.

7. Persona

Your persona is that side of you that you show to the world. It is your social mask or the image that you show to the public. Are you being authentic? Who are you in front of other people? Do you act the same way when you are alone?

8. Shadow

Your shadow self is the negative part of yourself. Since it is negative, sometimes, it is hard to accept it. Are you lazy, greedy, proud, weak, bitter, highly emotional, selfish etc? These are just some examples of shadow self. Each individual has different shadow selves. Part of achieving spiritual wellness is not just about acceptance and awareness of our shadow selves. We also need to embrace that negative trait of ours because it is part of who we are as individuals. It is only through this process will we know what to do each time our shadow selves creep in and shows itself. So, learn to embrace your shadow self.

9. Human Design

Introduced by Ra Uru Hu, human design is a tool that you use to help you find yourself – your gifts, talents, personality and even your purpose in life. It is based on a mixture of several disciplines including Astrology, I’ching, Kabbalah, Quantum Physics and the Chakra System. It is very helpful if you want to understand yourself better. Knowing your design will also help you make decisions in life.

10. Karma

Karma is a Hindu belief that every thought or action that we put out there in the world, whether intentional or not, has its consequences. It will go back to you in time. Karma does not only pertain to negative things, it can also be positive. Thus, karma is neutral. It all depends on what you put out there.

Karma is similar to the law of attraction. In the law of attraction, everything is energy. You attract what you focus on. You think, speak and do positive things, you will attract positive things, people and events in your life. Similarly, if you have negative thoughts and do bad things, you will attract negative things in your life. So, it is important to be aware of what you focus on.

How To Find Your Purpose in Life

How To Find Your Purpose in Life

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Do you believe that each one of us has a particular purpose to fulfill in life? If so, do you think you are fulfilling your purpose? But what if you don’t know your purpose? How to find your purpose in life?

Goals vs Purpose

Many people equate purpose with goals. But those are two different things. Goals are about things that you want to accomplish. They can be short-term or long-term. Goals can also be about different aspects in your life such as your career, relationships, finances, material things and other desired achievements.

Purpose on the other hand is something deeper. It is about your reason for being. Purpose is spiritual in nature. You can achieve all the success and fame in life but still feel empty inside. Having a purpose goes beyond merely surviving. It is all about using your God given gifts and talents for service to others.

Finding Your Purpose in Life

The dilemma of most people today is that we all fall victims to the expectations of society. We tend to set aside what our hearts truly desire because we are scared that we might disappoint our loved ones or we don’t want to be judged by others for wanting something different from the general populace. We don’t want to deviate from society’s definition of what success is. As a result, we then lose ourselves and our individuality in the process when our purpose in life lies in our uniqueness. To find our purpose, we need to find our authentic self.

How To Find Your Purpose in Life

How do we then find your purpose in life? The answer lies deep within you. You have unique gifts and talents that are uniquely yours. All you need to do is to unleash the genius within you. Your childhood normally leaves clues on what it is that you are meant to do in life. For the Japanese, your purpose is related to what gives you joy. They call this your ikigai. So, explore your passion. The answer is there.

Listening To Your Intuition

Intuition is knowing something naturally without having to use your mind. Many cultures believe that your intuition is spiritual in nature. It is a form of self-awareness coming from your spirit guides. Your intuition knows what it is that you truly want. So you need to learn to listen and trust your intuition.

Finding your purpose is like finding your reason for being. Without a purpose, we will be living like Pinocchio aimlessly wandering through life. You will feel more alive and happier when you know what your purpose is. You will no longer be living on autopilot. Having a purpose is like having an inner compass that is guiding you every step of the way.

Signs That You Are Not Aligned with Your Purpose

Signs That You Are Not Aligned with Your Purpose

Reading Time: 4 minutes

Do you wake up at 3am to 4am? In science, the explanation is that your circadian rhythm has been disrupted. On the other hand, based on the organ clock of Chinese medicine, waking up at those hours means bladder issues. In folklore, this is what you call the witching hour. It is said that during this hour, supernatural events occur. But did you know that this is the hour where we have access to our spiritual nature? Why? It is simply because there is less noise. More often than not, we ignore or have forgotten the fact that all of us are made of both the body and spirit. We are so engrossed in the physical world that we took for granted the spirit side of us. If you find yourself waking up at that hour, it is one of the signs that you are not aligned with your purpose.

Purpose in Life

We all have a purpose to fulfill in life. And our purpose is unique to us. This is the reason why a friend from the same field can be more successful than you. It may be her purpose while you are on the wrong field. So, rather than being envious of others or copying others’ formula for success, it is better to look inward and unleash the genius within you. Follow your passion in life for they are clues on what you are meant to do. So how do you know if you are already doing your purpose? Here are signs that you are not aligned with your purpose.

Signs that You are Not Aligned With your Purpose

1. Waking Up at 3am to 4am

Waking up at the spirit hour is one of the signs that you are not doing your purpose in life. It is how your spirit guide or guardian angel talks to you. Waking up at this hour is their way of telling you that there is a greater purpose of your existence here on earth. But since there are many other reasons why you wake up at this hour like stress, caffeine, excitement, anger, frustration or even sugar; it is not the only sign.

2. Something Feels Just Not Right

This is a feeling that something feels off yet you cannot exactly pinpoint what it is. For example, you are an achiever. You have accomplished great things. You are in a place in your life where other people will define you as successful. But for some reason that you cannot explain, there is a feeling that something is just not right.

3. Disconnection from Your Values

What is important to you? Do you feel that you have learned to compromise what is important for you just to achieve power, wealth and success? Our values guide our thoughts and actions. They gave us direction in our lives. And they help us become better individuals. If you feel that you have been disconnected from them, that is a sure sign you are misaligned with your purpose.

4. Drained in Your Life

Are you excited and full of energy in your life? Do you look forward to each passing day? Are. you enjoying what you are doing right now? Or do you feel drained? Many people feel that it is normal to feel stressed everyday in life. After all, with all the things that are happening in the world right now; almost everyone feels the same way. Nope, that is far from normal. If you love what you are doing, you won’t feel drained. Every moment is an adventure. You will forget the hours if you are in the flow. You will see life differently. Each day is a new adventure. This is true not just in your health and work but it also applies to your relationships.

5. You Have your Social Mask on Most of The Time

Are you pretending to be someone you are not? Do you feel like you will lose the people around you if you start showing your real self? What is your persona? Is it different from the real you? If you feel that you are hiding the real you; then that is another sure sign that you are far away from your purpose. You are unique. Your purpose is showing your uniqueness to the world so that other people can benefit from it. Authenticity is not present if you have your social mask on.

6. A Hard Time Manifesting

Are you having a hard time turning your dreams into reality? No matter how hard you work on your dreams, for some reason, it is just not working. If this is the case, the universe might be telling you that you are on the wrong path. It might be trying to reroute you to a different path.

7. Unfulfillment

If you are living your purpose, life has meaning. There is a sense of happiness, fulfillment and satisfaction. If it feels otherwise, despite your numerous accomplishments, then it is a sign that you are misaligned.

In a nutshell, ask yourself are you happy, healthy and wealthy? Are you respected by your peers? Because at the end of the day, it is all about you. It is about celebrating your uniqueness. Developing your gifts and talents for others is the main purpose in your lives. Follow your purposes and material blessing are sure to follow.

Ikigai: Finding Your Life’s Purpose

Ikigai: Finding Your Life’s Purpose

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Did you know that the Japanese life expectancy is one the highest in the world, if not the highest with 74.8 years old? Their food intake has a lot to do with it. The Japanese people consume less meat, dairy products and sugar. The Japanese diet consists mostly of fish, seafood, soybean and green tea. While diet plays a huge role in their life expectancy, the Japanese people believe that it has a lot to do with Ikigai, finding your life’s purpose.

What is Ikigai?

The concept originated in Okinawa, Japan, the place where people have the longest life expectancy in the world. If you would like to meet a lot of people who are centenarians, go to Naha or in Ogimi in Okinawa. So, what’s their secret? Ikigai.

Naka, Okinawa, Japan City Population by Age Group
Source: City Population

Ikigai is an ancient philosophy that the Japanese people embraced in their lives. So, what does it mean? In Japan “iki” means life while “gai” means value or worth. In short, ikigai is your life purpose. It is what gives you happiness and contentment in life. It is your reason for being. Ikigai is what makes you wake up in the morning excited about life. For them, retirement does not exist if you find your lifelong purpose. Even at an old age, they still feel a sense of purpose. Thus, if you can find your Ikigai, you will have bliss in your life.

Finding Your Ikigai

Each one of us is born for a reason. We are not here simply to make a living. We are born to fulfill our life’s purpose. That’s part of our spiritual wellness. However, finding our life’s purpose is easier said than done. Not everyone is able to unleash the genius within them. Thus, more and more people live a stressful life and do not find peace and true happiness in their existence.

There are four questions to ask yourself in order to find your Ikigai or life purpose.

1.What Are You Good At?

There are multiple intelligences. Just because you have bad grades in your academics does not necessarily mean that you are no longer smart. The key is to find the things that you are good at. Know and recognize your strengths. Ask yourself, what are you good at? Are you one of the best in that field? Do people ask you for advice regarding that?

2. What Do You Love Doing?

What is one thing that you love doing? Do you have a hobby or skill that you can’t get enough of? You love it so much that you are willing to do it even without getting paid. Also, when you are doing it, you seem to be in the flow so you can easily forget the time. Think about what brings you joy? If you are still unsure, think about your childhood. What did you enjoy the most when you were a child?

3. What Does The World Need?

If you are currently working, find out if there is high demand for what you are doing now. How about in the next 5, 10 or 15 years from now? Do you think it will still be valuable? What can you do that can contribute to and help solve a social, economic, physical, mental or environmental problem in the world? If you are not working yet, ask the same questions about your craft, hobby or skill. In short, how can you contribute to society?

4. What Can You Be Paid For?

Thinking about how you can contribute to society using your innate talent is good and noble. However, let’s face it. Unless you are born with a silver spoon, we all need money to survive and pay for our basic needs. Thus, doing something that you are going to get paid for is something that should be considered. Ask yourself, are there people getting paid doing what you are doing? Can you make a career out of your hobby or craft? Is it something that you can make a good living of?

Your ikigai lies in the intersection of all four areas: your mission, vocation, profession and passion.

Good luck in finding your ikigai!

Are You Spiritually Well?

Are You Spiritually Well?

Reading Time: 3 minutes

You take care of your body. You have a great career and you are doing great financially. Even your relationships with the people around you are harmonious. Can you consider yourself truly “healthy”? While these dimensions of wellness are all equally important, there is one type of wellness that is often overlooked. That is spiritual wellness. As human beings, we are more than just our physical bodies. We are also made up of our thoughts, emotions and our spirituality. Who we really are as persons is the product of all those elements combined. In addition, they also determine our state of wellness. So, are you spiritually well?

The Human Spirit

The Bible defines the human spirit as the deepest part of a person. It is our connection with a Higher Being. It is only through our spirit wherein we can connect with our Creator.

God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.

– John 4:24

The spirit is the higher component of our human nature. It is composed of love, intelligence, passion and creativity. The farther we are from our spirit, the farther we are from identifying and fulfilling our life’s purpose. Thus, it is important that we are connected with our own spirituality.

Purpose-Driven in Life

All of us have our purpose in life, our reason for being. It is what makes us wake up in the morning with a clear direction in mind. A life without a purpose is meaningless. For example, imagine going out of the house without a clear direction on where you want to go. You will probably end up in circles or go back to where you started. A life like this is simply repetitive. Sooner or later, you will get burned out. Even if you feel like you have accomplished so much already; there will still be a feeling that something is missing. Having a purpose in life will serve as your driving force and motivation.

We all have gifts and talents that are unique to us. Unfortunately, not all people are lucky enough to find what their gifts and talents are. Only a few get to unleash the genius within them.

So, what do we do if we are lost in life? Then, increase your spiritual wellness. But before we can do that, we must first understand what it is.

Spiritual Wellness

Spiritual Wellness is the feeling of being connected to a higher power, finding meaning in life and pursuing one’s life purpose. It is all about finding your life’s meaning. It is the feeling that someone out there is guiding you in your life’s journey. Since the spirit is part of who we are, keeping your spirit healthy can contribute to your overall wellness. In fact, it can even be the key to your total physical and emotional healing.

To start your journey towards spiritual wellness, you first need to have a clear assessment of the current state of your spiritual wellness by asking yourself the following questions:

  1. Do you have a purpose in life?
  2. Do you meditate regularly?
  3. Are you part of a spiritual or religious community?
  4. Do you help others in need?
  5. Do you commune with nature regularly?
  6. Are you mindful of other people and the environment around you?
  7. Do you listen to your intuition?
  8. Do you embrace silence and solitude?
  9. Are you connected to something that is larger than yourself?
  10. Is your positive values reflected in your daily actions?

If you answered yes to most of the questions above, it is a sign that you are spiritually well. If not, consider increasing your spiritual wellness for a happier and. more fulfilling life.

Crossroads: Making Life-Changing Decisions

Crossroads: Making Life-Changing Decisions

Reading Time: 3 minutes

My friends and I recently had an encounter with a black butterfly. The butterfly stayed with us for quite some time before flying away. Out of curiosity, I researched what it meant. Many people believe that a black butterfly is a sign of bad omen. But contrary to popular belief, a black butterfly is actually a symbol of rebirth, transformation, transition and new beginnings. When my friends and I saw the black butterfly, we were at crossroad, making life-changing decisions in our lives, careers, family and relationships.

Transformation

Butterflies undergo metamorphosis in their lives. They were not born with such beauty. As caterpillars, they have long and worm-like bodies. Caterpillars wrapped themselves in cocoons in order to become the beautiful full-winged creatures known as butterflies. In order to become butterflies, caterpillars had to fall apart and die first. Butterflies need to undergo a very painful process before they can fulfill their purpose and become the best versions of themselves. And this is the very essence of life.

As individuals, we all need to undergo transformation in order to fulfill our purpose in lives. Unfortunately, the transformation process is not easy. Challenges are needed for growth and success. Everyone wants to become happy and successful, but how many are actually willing to change? In order for our circumstances to change, we must be willing to change the way we do things and change ourselves in the process.

We can’t continue doing the same things and expect different results.

– Paulo Coelho

Crossroads in Life

Crossroads are all about change. It is about making choices. In a a way, it is an opportunity to choose between different possible paths that you can take in your life. The choices can be equally good and exciting or can also be very painful. Whatever choices that are right in front of you, making a choice can be quite scary because change is scary. That is why many people remain stuck at where they are in their lives because of fear.

Whether you are contemplating on leaving your job, changing careers, migrating to a different country, getting married or ending a relationship; whatever life-changing decision you are trying to make, it is not easy. Crossroads decisions are hard. They are difficult because it involves changing the direction of your life. Although it is a natural part of life, there are instances that it is forced upon us by uncontrollable circumstances.

So, what to do when you find yourself at a crossroad?

1. Accept What Is

Do not resist. You are at a crossroad because it is life’s way of telling you to rethink the direction of your life. Are you on the right path? Open yourself up to the signs around you. What is life telling you? Move with the changes instead of going against them.

2. Trust Your Instinct

An instinct is a feeling inside you that only you can experience. Trusting your instinct means trusting yourself. Sometimes, we spend too much time asking other people’s opinion and trying to adhere to the status quo when in fact deep inside you, you already know the answer. Just learn to believe in yourself and what you can do and accomplish.

3. Act on It

Once you have made the decision, now do it. Make the leap. It is useless to decide on your head alone. Your decision must be coupled with action. Whether it is right or wrong, only time can tell. Every decision has no guarantee. There is no such thing as a win-win situation.

4. Give Yourself Time to Grieve

Big changes are not without pain. There will be a feeling of loss. It’s okay to not be okay for some time. Give yourself time to cry your heart out. One day, it will all pass. You will start feeling better.

5. Surround Yourself with your Support Group

Find your support group. The people around you will help you get through it. They play an important role in your overall recovery. Their emotional support can help you reduce stress.

6. Look Forward to New Beginnings

The best way to move forward is to dream again. Visualize what your whole new world will look like. This is the time to create new dreams and goals. Dream big. Rather than looking at the past, focus your attention on your future happiness and success. Embrace the changes.

Your life changes the moment you make a new, congruent, and committed decision.

In a world full of worry and stress, spending time with nature can help you recharge. It gives temporary refuge and offers peace and calmness away from the hustle and bustle of city life. It boosts creativity and productivity. A walk in nature is good for both mental and physiological health.

Spend time with nature. Go to the beach. Walk barefoot in the sands. Practice grounding. Climb a mountain. Go to the forest. Play with animals. Watch the sunset.

5. Have Fun

Do you take your life too seriously? When was the last time you had fun? Having fun releases happy hormones like serotonin and endorphins. You will feel good. It relieves stress. It also leads to better relationships with others. Have a good laugh, read and watch happy stuff. Eat good food. Play games. Add fun into your life.

6. Love

Have you ever been in love? When you are in love, you can’t help but think of the other person all the time. You grin absentmindedly. Suddenly, the world seems to be a great place to be in. That’s the magic of falling in love.

There is nothing more magical than love. Nothing.

How To Be Happy in Difficult Times

How To Be Happy in Difficult Times

Reading Time: 3 minutes

This pandemic has caught everyone by surprise. We woke up one day and the world is different. Suddenly, it is like we are all living inside a science-fiction movie. We watch in horror as we see the number of people dying all around the world. What is COVID? How did this thing even happen? And even if we find the vaccine soon, the world will no longer be the same again. As we struggle to adapt to the new normal, another crisis is in the corner – the global economic crisis brought about by this pandemic. It’s not just a health issue now; there is still the challenge on how to survive this economic crisis. In times like this, it is difficult to be happy, much less stay sane. So, how to be happy in difficult times?

Below are some tips on how to be happy in difficult times:

1.Focus on What you Have NOT on What you Don’t Have

What’s the first thing that you do in the morning? if you have a habit of watching the news or checking your social media, then it is time to change your habit. The news will be full of bad things happening around you while your social media will contain things that others have that you don’t have. Instead of that, why not start a gratitude journal and write down at least three things that you are grateful for. By doing this simple thing, you are shifting your focus from the negative to the positive. Then you are starting your day on a positive note. Through this habit, you will be surprised that you can easily find joy in the little things in life.

The earlier you learn that you should focus on what you have, and not obsess about what you don’t have, the happier you will be.

– Amy Poehler

2.Accept Things That You Cannot Change

Many of us gets frustrated with things that are beyond our control. The pandemic, the past and other people are just some of the things that we have no control over. The sooner we accept that we cannot change these things, the sooner we will be happy.

In order to fully accept the situation, you need to go through a process of grieving first. Go ahead, cry your heart out. Feel the sadness and the pain. It’s okay to not be okay for some time. But don’t let it consume you. After some time, you need to start living your life again.

Focus on the things that you can change. You cannot control the pandemic but you can protect yourself from diseases. You may be buried in debt but you can slowly improve your finances through financial literacy. Learn to differentiate the things that you can and cannot change.

Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

– Reinhold Niebuhr

3. Surround Yourself with Happy, Positive Individuals

Did you know that you are the average of the five people you spend the most of your time with? If you surround yourself with positive people, you will also have a positive attitude in life. In the same way that if you spend too much time with toxic individuals like those people who complain a lot, then you will also end up feeling down. Be wise. Be choosy about the people you hang out with.

You are the average of the five people you spend most of your time with.

– Jim Rohn

4. Find your Purpose

It may sound cliche, but things really do happen for a reason. There is a lesson with all this like how important our health is as well as the environment. The important thing here is to learn the lesson and move on. A purpose will give us the reason to move on. Life is not a steady path, there will always be bumps and obstacles along the way. Having a clear goal, will keep us walking on that path amidst the challenges. So, find your purpose. Unleash the genius within you. Your purpose is always connected with your gifts, talents and passion.

He who has why to live can bear almost any how.

Angel Messages: Repeating Numbers

Angel Messages: Repeating Numbers

Reading Time: 4 minutes

Numbers are everywhere. They are part of our daily lives. You can see them in your cellphone, identification cards, money, plate numbers, reading materials, receipts and even in your clock. However, have you noticed that there is a number sequence that you keep on seeing lately? If you believe in angels and spirit guides; then these repeating numbers may actually be angel messages.

For example, you wake up in the middle of the night, you look at the clock and it says 11:11. The next day, you are in the middle of traffic and a car broke down in front you with a 111 plate number. You then went to the bank and your cue number is 111. If you keep on seeing the same number sequence over and over again, then that is not a coincidence.

The number sequence that seems to be following you around actually means that our angels are trying to send you a message. This is what Paolo Coelho, author of The Alchemist pertains to as signs that the universe is talking to you.

Each of us has a purpose in life. We are not born just to simply pay the bills. God, the universe, or whatever you may call it, wants us to fulfill our destiny. That is the duty of the angels or spirit guides; to guide us to the right path.

To realize one’s destiny is a person’s only obligation.

– Paolo Coelho, The Alchemist
